On Monday the 18th of January 2021 we commemorate, salute, and celebrate Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr with a federal holiday which recognizes King’0s contributions toward civil rights in America.
I validate the
title doctor for King not because he was a medical doctor but because King was
awarded a doctoral degree in Systematic Theology at Boston University.
All over the
world King is hailed as one of civilization’s most significant figures of freedom,
justice, non-violence, and equality.
Arizona was
the last state in the United States to recognize a federal holiday for King and
the decision to not recognize some type of civil rights day in recognition of
King caused major artists to boycott Arizona which resulted in an untold amount
of millions of dollars in lost revenues for the state of Arizona. Despite the negativity of lost revenues,
Arizona voted against creating a holiday in 1990.
Two years
later the National Football League (NFL) pulled the Super Bowl from Arizona because
the NFL did not want to deal with potential fallout for Arizona’s failure to officially
recognize a civil rights day in the name of Martin Luther King Jr., so when
voters went back to the polls Arizona’s voters voted for approval of a federal
civil rights holiday in the name of Martin Luther King Jr and that civil rights
day was first celebrated in Arizona during 1993.
True to their
word, the NFL removed their threat of no Super Bowl for Arizona and to date
Arizona has hosted three Super Bowls since 1996.
Do not get me
wrong, I am not one to say let’s not have a holiday. But I am one that believes in the truth and
telling the truth. I also believe that
laws are made to help establish a modicum of order to an otherwise order less
society. For example, there are laws
with regard to how one goes about legally changing their name. The truth is the name on Martin Luther King’s
birth certificate — filed April 12, 1934, five years after King was born — was
not Martin. It also was not Luther. In fact, for the first 28 years of his life, Martin
Luther’s name was Michael King. It was not
until Michael was 28 that, on July 23, 1957, his birth certificate was changed. And by changed I mean that someone took a
black ink pen and drew a line through Michael and wrote in Martin Luther,
Jr. In other words, someone illegally
altered a legal government document. When
someone makes up a name for themselves or others it causes me to wonder what
deceit they are attempting to perpetrate.
In today’s society we accept that some of our nation’s military members
from the past who fought a war for what they believed in should have their
names removed from our history and public places because they fought for the
south wherein many believe that the sole reason for that “civil” war was
slavery. I refer to the likes of Robert
E. Lee, Thomas Jonathan "Stonewall" Jackson, James Ewell Brown
"Jeb" Stuart, James “Old Pete” Longstreet, and Braxton Bragg to name
a few. As far as I know, these men
refused to tell a lie but we believe the lie that their names should be removed
from our history.
It has been
alleged that less than 50% of King’s doctoral thesis was his own work and
greater than 50% of his doctoral thesis was heavily plagiarized from another
author who had done research on a subject similar to King’s. It was also discovered that King’s famous I
HAVE A DREAM speech was also not his own. He stole it from a sermon by Archibald Carey,
a popular black preacher in the 1950’s.
King was under
FBI surveillance for several years (until he died) due to his ties with
communist organizations throughout the country and the world. King accepted money from known communist organizations
to fund his movements. In return, King
had to appoint communist leaders to run certain districts of his SCLC (Southern
Christian Leadership Conference), who then could project their communist ideas
to larger audiences. A federal judge during the 60’s ruled that the FBI files
on King’s links to communism remain top-secret until 2027. Senator Jesse Helms appealed to the Supreme
Court in 1983 to release the files, so the correct bill in the Senate to create
the Martin Luther King Federal Holiday could be abolished. Helm’s appeal was denied.
King has been
described as innately hypersexual and animalistic. One of King’s closest friends, Rev. Ralph
Abernathy, wrote a book in 1989 in which Abernathy talked about King’s obsession
with white prostitutes. There are, of
course, laws against prostitution, both civil laws and moral laws, and although
King was a well-educated scholar that could understand civil law as well as
moral law (biblical canon) the Reverend King chose to place himself above civil
law and GOD’s law and (as reported in FBI papers) often used church donations
to have drunken sex parties, where he would hire two to three white
prostitutes, occasionally beating them brutally for their failure to perform
unnatural sex acts during the drunken sex parties. King was married and had four children, yet we
accept his illegal and immoral behavior.
It seems we allow drunken and lewd behavior of those that place
themselves out of reach of legal justice while we condemn others for the same type
of behavior.
I have just
four questions:
1. Where is the freedom? I do not imagine the prostitutes that were
paid for with churchgoer’s contributions to the church were free to walk away
from beatings or any other maltreatment during the drunken sex parties. Nor do I imagine the churchgoers freely
donated money to the church so King could afford his immoral, illegal, and
inappropriate behavior.
2. Where is the justice? Does it seem just that we allow and accept
King’s behavior? How does any drunken
sex party that is apt to result in beatings for refusal to perform unnatural
sex acts contribute to civil rights?
3. Where is the non-violence in beatings? By the way, today we accept a belief that sex
trafficking is a form of slavery
4. And, where is the equality?
On Monday the
18th of January 2021 we commemorated, saluted, and celebrated Dr.
Martin Luther King, Jr with a federal holiday which recognized King’s
contributions toward civil rights in America.
Why not, after all we have accepted Biden as the duly elected 46th
president of the United States.
